St. Boniface is where I was born, and my Dad loved the metis way of speaking french, or "Metchif" as it was referred to in our french canadian family. I visited the community of St. Laurent way back in the 70's with a friend who knew ppl there or had family there, can't really recall. But I do recall the friendly attitude of everyone I met. Warm and kind and laughing ppl were around us the whole time. It's sad to know that the flood has disrupted so many but the unity apparent back in the 70's is sure to still be strong. Wonderful country, Manitoba and wonderful Metis community, Saint Laurent!!!
I was the girl's tripper there in '64 & '65. Joan & Jim cocklin
were the owners. What happened? Gord

I don't understand why I never heard about this.. I'm in the same family. (Possibly a far sibling, but still)
We love going to Darlene's for Canada. She is such a generous, caring person who puts on an amazing party!! Love you Darlene!
